As a forum owner what mistakes have you made?

How bad were they and how did you recover?

As a member, what mistakes have you seen forum owners make? What happened?

I can't think of like super major ones. I mean I've had staff that didn't work out before. Most I've probably dealt with.

I made 2 mistakes, okay? One, I hired a member on my staff who picked fights with one of my members and spewing racist BS in a number of posts 2 years ago until I ban and fired him on the spot. The other, I hired a certain female member who bosses people around and got on me just because I was doing my job telling that female member not to double post these pathetic off-key singing threads. I banned her for the 2nd time in 3 years last October and now she's hereby blacklisted from future postings at my forum. As a result of all this, she removed herself, but I banned her anyhow.

My forum's major purpose is to hire those who can display respect, help me out and bring some decorum to keep the members happy. I have no time, room or place for troublemakers and time wasters.

Eek, yeah sounds like some particular bad staff. Sorry you had to deal with that.

In my 21 years in the forum scene, I finally learned my lesson.

One of my biggest mistakes was closing my forum, but I am so thankful I found a backup and was able to revive it. Glad to be back! We ain't going anywhere this time!

I remember waaaay back in the day around when I originally first started this forum I used to have issues with updating the forum software and I was dumb would just restart it. Thankfully I don’t have that issue anymore.
