While I assume we all know the saying "Don't judge a book by its cover", I think a lot of us still do- whether it's judging by the title or the cover itself. What are some books you had assumptions on and were blown away by how wrong they were?
For me, it's gotta be Happy Sugar Life. I know what you're thinking (or assume you're thinking)- June, isn't it obvious that's a sickeningly sweet story? But no- Happy Sugar Life is a HORROR manga. Horror and psychological thriller, I might add. It's so seriously messed up... Yet it still has the sickening sweetness you'd expect. Just... to the point of murder.

Re: Books That Surprised You
I guess for me one that comes to mind is "Twilight" by Stephanie Meyer. I knew it was about vampires, and that was it. My mom had picked up a copy and I decided to read it, even though I wasn't sure how I'd like it. I think I had thought it'd be scary. Turned out to be right up my ally and I really enjoyed it.

The book that I read that really surprise me was The Glass Lake by Meave Binchy because I wasn't sure if I'd like but it ended up being one of my favorite books that I own and I now have almost all of her books.
